Why Helping Hands Matter
Packing events bring hundreds of volunteers together. Helping Hands make sure everything runs smoothly so those volunteers can focus on packing meals.
Helping Hands make these events possible by supporting the flow of the event and guiding volunteers throughout the day. Their support helps turn a few hours of service into thousands of meals for children facing hunger.
Typical commitment:
A few hours at a packing event, depending on availability.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of packing events do you hold?
We host two public events each year — the Mini Packathon (spring) and the Annual Packathon (November) — along with private events at schools and community organizations. Volunteers who want to help at those events can join the Helping Hands team.
What happens at a packing event?
Volunteers work at packing stations measuring ingredients, sealing meal bags, and boxing meals for shipment.
How long do packing events last?
Most packing events last about 2–3 hours, including a short orientation at the beginning.
Is there an age requirement?
No. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, though younger children should attend with a parent or guardian.
Can I volunteer with a group?
Yes! Families, schools, businesses, and community groups often volunteer together.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Because we are packing food, all volunteers will wear hair nets and gloves, which will be provided at the event.
Where do the meals go?
Meals are distributed through trusted partner organizations to communities facing hunger around the world.
Where do donations go?
100% of donations support the purchase, packing, and distribution of life-saving meals.
What if I want to help more often?
Join the Helping Hands team to support packing events throughout the year.
Can I organize a packing event?
Yes. Schools, churches, businesses, and community groups can host their own meal-packing event with Many Hands Many Meals.
Hosting an event requires a minimum number of volunteers and a fundraising commitment to cover the cost of the meals being packed. Our team will guide you through the planning process and help make the event a success.
